ROTARY CUTTING BASICS

Perfect your rotary cutting skills! For all you beginning and not-so beginning quilters, here's your chance to familiarize yourself with the intricacies of rotary cutting. Geary will cover all of the basics — from proper use of the cutter to "What do all those lines on the ruler mean?" You'll practice techniques that will make your cutting easier and your results more accurate. All levels welcome.

In this 3-week Beginning Quiltmaking class, you'll start at the very beginning, learning the basics of tools and fabric. Geary will teach you the three essential skills of quiltmaking: cutting, sewing and pressing while you make a terrific small quilt. You'll choose one of the quilts from Even More Quilts for Baby, but rest assured, these quilts are just as pretty in florals, plaids or any other "grown-up" fabric. You'll leave with a quilt top and the knowledge to go on to many other quilt projects. All levels welcome.

BEGINNING QUILTMAKING:

Hand Stitching

Many quiltmakers find hand stitching extremely relaxing, an excellent way to soothe the stresses of everyday living. Handwork is also easy to take with you for an on-the-go project. This series of three classes will find you showing off a completed wall hanging, but each class stands alone with respect to the tips and techniques covered. Enroll in all three of these great classes to make the joy of handwork truly yours.

HAND PIECING

From Grandmother's Flower Garden, Tumbling Blocks and Clam Shells to traditional blocks with curves and angles not easily pieced by machine, hand piecing is the way to go. Linda will cover making templates, marking fabric and the proper stitching techniques to use for strong even seams. The English paper piecing style of handwork and the use of freezer paper patterns will be covered. Those students going on to the Hand Appliqué class will be piecing the background for the appliqué project. All levels welcome.

Whether you are new to hand quilting or want to improve your technique, Linda will be on hand in a "sit and sew" environment to start you stitching in the right direction.
